Certified to carry out FAA CASAEASA Transport Canada examinations;

UKCAA medical examinations is an added advantage.

Aviation Medicine Specialist Responsibilities & Duties

  • Conduct pre-flight periodic and post-flight medical examinations for pilots and aircrew.
  • Diagnose and treat medical conditions affected by altitude pressure and the unique environmental conditions of flight.
  • Develop and enforce medical standards and regulations for aircrew fitness.
  • Provide emergency medical care and coordinate medical evacuations when necessary.
  • Evaluate the impact of medication and treatment plans on flight safety and crew performance.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies to improve aviation medical standards and practices.
  • Monitor the psychological and mental health of aircrew and offer appropriate interventions.

Aviation Medicine Specialist Qualifications & Skills

  • Board certification in Aerospace Medicine
  • Experience in a clinical or hospital setting with a focus on emergency care.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulations and standards such as those from the FAA EASA or similar bodies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in conducting medical research related to aviation science.
  • Advanced training in physiology particularly as it pertains to the aviation environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of medical diagnostic equipment relevant to aviation healthcare.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with aircrew regulatory bodies and medical professionals.
  • Medical degree (MBBS and MD ) from an accredited institution.
  • Diploma and Specialized training or fellowship in aviation medicine or aerospace medicine.
  • Experience in occupational or environmental medicine.
  • Ability to make quick decisions in high-stress situations.
  • In-depth understanding of the physiological impacts of flight.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details.
