Working at our Cincinnati Aviation Component Service Center:

Our ACSC facility develops and conducts a wide array of engine component repairs including rotating parts complex assemblies and nozzles on 29 different engine models.

Role Overview:

Perform all necessary tasks for the preparation and metallographic evaluation of all process control samples. Sample types include ceramic thermal sprayed coatings honeycomb braze welded coupons VPA FIC water jet EDM and laser. Other responsibilities include maintaining necessary records and sample identification sectioning mounting and polishing techniques necessary for high quality metallographic mounts. Prepare and test thermal sprayed bond test specimens for the purpose of determining bond strength. Maintain all assigned equipment in good working order and assure that adequate inventory of consumable supplies are available to allow for the continuous and economical operation of the laboratory. Instruct and train others as required.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Ability to be CCL Certified in level 2 preparation and evaluation of coatings after obtaining required hours (1040)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Possess basic understanding of metallurgical terms and applications
• CCL Certified in level 1 & 2
• Familiarization with coatings and other processes listed in the broad description
• Experience operating and troubleshooting belt sanders polishers cut off saws grinders and Tensile Test
• Experience in chemical handling of job-related process solutions
• Experience in troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance on minor inspection equipment
• Experience using micrometers verniers dial indicators special gauges air gauges optical comparator weight scales and length gauges
• Experience using measuring microscopes image analysis
• Proficient in the use of shop math as necessary including fractions and decimals
• Experience operating various hand and power tools and basic machine tools and equipment

Additional Information:

• Wage $33.85 per hour plus $1.00/hr. Shift Differential
• Experience operating material handling and lifting devices including ability to obtain forklift license as required
• Experience with basic use of computers applications and keyboarding (e.g. email Microsoft Excel etc.
