Position Overview
Are you a dynamic visionary leader with a deep passion for shaping the spiritual foundations of the next generation Pleasant Valley Baptist Church is seeking a Preschool Ministry Director to cast and implement a compelling vision for our ministry serving birth through age 5.
This isnt just an administrative roleits a mission-critical position that requires creativity spiritual vitality and a gift for empowering leaders and parents. You will be the champion for our youngest members and their families creating engaging safe and biblically-centered environments that introduce children to the love of Jesus and guide them toward a meaningful lifelong relationship with Him.
As a key member of the Next Gen Team you will actively demonstrate a vibrant growing relationship with Christ unwavering loyalty to the churchs leadership and be a model of our equipping culture.
Note: This position requires PVBC Membership.
Key Responsibilities and Strategic Leadership
The Director is responsible for the overall strategy health and growth of the Early Childhood Ministry focusing on four primary areas:
1. Integrate and Champion the Next Gen Strategy (BE GROW GO)
- Integrate and Champion the Next Gen Strategy (BE GROW GO): Ensure the entire Preschool Ministry strategy programming and culture fully supports the BE GROW GO framework intentionally designing environments that foster Belonging (BE) challenge leaders and families to take next steps in their faith (GROW) and empower children and families to live missionally (GO).
2. Vision Programming and Environment
- Oversee engaging and inspiring large group teaching and worship experiences that are age-appropriate gospel-centered and maximize our weekly programming schedule.
- Develop curate and implement a scope and sequence that ensures clear consistent messaging across all early childhood age groups.
- Strategically direct and oversee church-wide special events that utilize our nursery and preschool spaces ensuring seamless execution and outstanding guest experiences.
3. Team Building and Leadership Development
- Be a chief recruiter equipper and encourager for all nursery and preschool volunteers and leadership. Intentionally seek out members whose gifts align with ministry needs.
- Design and facilitate robust training and orientation meetings for all ministry partners including an annual recognition event to celebrate their dedication and impact.
- Mentor and empower leadership teams through intentional monthly meetings and focused one-on-one development time prioritizing their personal spiritual growth and relational connection.
- Create clear comprehensive written materials including ministry descriptions volunteer guidelines and parent communication tools.
4. Operations and Safety
- Partner with Next Gen in the church-wide background check process for all childrens and student ministries maintaining the highest standards of safety and security.
- Plan manage and monitor the annual ministry budget to ensure fiscal responsibility and effective resource utilization.
- Collaborate with the Childrens Ministry Team on planning and executing outreach initiatives to engage our community.

- Exceptional People and Communication Skills: A strong relational chemistry to work effectively with the Next Gen Pastor and the entire Childrens Ministry Team with an ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner.
- Proven Leader: Demonstrated ability to build equip and lead large volunteer teams and a passion to see others involved in ministry according to their gifts and abilities.
Education and Experience
- High school education or equivalent
- Significant experience working with and leading large volunteer teams (required).
- Background or formal experience with early childhood education or child development is highly helpful.
