The primary role of the Executive Clinical Director is to deploy and manage consultants and other resources plan how services are delivered contribute to the process of strategic planning and influence and respond to organisational priorities.

To achieve the best clinical outcomes and experience for patient/service users within the available resources for mental health services within their area.

The work of the ECD will be aligned with national policy and health strategy.

Organisational Context

The HSE has created six new health regions. Each region is responsible for providing both hospital and community care for the people in that area. Bringing community health services and hospitals together means we can take a more patient-centred approach to healthcare.

HSE Dublin and North East provides health and social care to North Dublin Louth Meath Monaghan and most areas of Cavan.

HSE Dublin and North East Region includes the following hospitals;

Beaumont Hospital

Cavan General Hospital

Connolly Hospital

Louth County Hospital

National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh

Monaghan General Hospital

Mater Misericordiae University Hospital

Our Ladys Hospital Navan

Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital

Rotunda Hospital

The HSE is responsible for the planning and delivery of health social and personal services across the full range of care programmes in the Irish healthcare system.

Essential Criteria

A permanently appointed Medical Consultant Contract Holder practising in the Mental Health Service area.

The candidate should be willing to complete the Diploma in Leadership and Quality in Healthcare or equivalent.

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular Executive Clinical Director Mental Health and efficient service.
