Wood Mackenzie is looking for a Research Associate to join the team in Mexico City to assist our short-term oil storage team.
Maintain and support the ongoing quality of our Oil Storage products. This includes an understanding of visual and infrared imagery database storage and customer-facing datasets.
Analyze imagery storage data oil transportation flows and other market information to deliver unique insights to our clients.
Research and organize technical documentation (permits media articles regulations company records etc.) on regional and global storage and related infrastructure.
Develop expertise on our remote sensing network and apply that expertise to generate and improve upon our oil offerings.
You will work closely with the team to maximize data integrity provide focused research and optimize operational processes.
Attain an in-depth understanding of our current internal tools and image ingestion processes but more importantly you will explore new ways to improve those processes.
Troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues through independent problem-solving and collaboration with technical teams to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Can quickly learn and implement established processes and procedures with keen attention to detail.
Can synthesize and analyze imagery and other data from a variety of sources quickly and efficiently often assimilating facts from prior events.
You have strong quantitative skills with experience in research process management or statistics.
Be a strong team player with an eye for detail and show creativity in finding alternative solutions.
You can manage your time effectively to execute in a deadline-driven environment.
Have an intellectual curiosity about what drives markets based on economicprinciples.
Experience with Python or R preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience in at least one other database querying language (SQL Cypher etc.).
Youre an effective communicator with clients and with key internal stakeholders.
Bachelors degree in computer science Physics Math or Economics preferred.
Youve developed strong quantitative and statistical analytic capabilities from either your professional or academic experiences
You are passionate about commodity markets and the global oil supply chain
You enjoy data storytelling
