Key Responsibilities:
Provide Quality Instruction in Courses as Assigned:
- Instruct courses as assigned ensuring students achieve desired learning outcomes.
- Prepare and update course syllabi outlines and content both independently and in collaboration with colleagues.
- Develop lesson plans and course schedules incorporating both independent work and team-based approaches.
- Contribute to the development and revision of curriculum manuals and instructional guides.
- Evaluate learner performance continuously and provide detailed progress reports to both learners and administrators.
- Design and implement effective assessment criteria tailored to course content and student needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date official records as required by College policies.
Provide a Positive Learning Experience for Students:
- Communicate with students regularly regarding academic concerns such as attendance conduct and performance.
- Identify areas of student concern and refer them to appropriate institutional support services such as tutoring or counseling.
- Ensure accommodations are provided for students with diverse learning needs.
- Support the awarding of scholarships and bursaries within the program.
- Actively participate in events that promote student success including orientation open house and graduation.
Build and Maintain Relationships with Stakeholders:
- Stay up-to-date with changes in the industry and adjust course materials and curriculum as necessary.
- Assist in articulation and transfer activities to ensure smooth academic pathways for students.
- Participate in recruitment events and represent the College and the program to prospective students and other stakeholders.
Other Duties/Special Projects:
- Adhere to College policies and procedures completing required professional development activities and mandatory training.
- Participate in applied research opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the College administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 years of teaching experience in a relevant field.
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (Interim or Permanent).
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in a subject-related field.
- Experience in instructional delivery in a related field or post-secondary environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of andragogy (adult learning theory).
- Knowledge of Indigenous teaching and learning principles.
- Experience with curriculum development.
- Instructional portfolio may be adjusted based on operational requirements or specialized qualifications.
- Experience working successfully in a team-based educational setting.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with online learning platforms (e.g. D2L Blackboard Moodle) is an asset.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Exceptional writing skills and the ability to develop course materials and reports.
