Job Summary

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Operate heavy equipment such as loaders forklifts and skidders to transport lumber and raw materials within the sawmill.
  • Inspect machinery and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Communicate with supervisors and coworkers to coordinate tasks and prioritize work.
  • Monitor equipment performance and report any issues or malfunctions.
  • Adhere to production schedules and meet quality standards for lumber products.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area including equipment storage areas.
  • Other duties as needed.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial or manufacturing setting preferably in a sawmill or lumber yard.
  • Valid drivers license

Skills:

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test post-offer pre-employment physical and background check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to sit and/or stand for shift reach with hands and arms stoop squat bend at the waist kneel walk varying distance and climb stairs.

  • Lift above waist height frequent depending on machine center
  • Lift over 50 lbs. frequent depending on machine center
  • Repetitive use of hands constant
  • Stand/walk constant
  • Sit occasional
  • Vision near and far correctable; depth perception
  • Hearing preferred for awareness of surrounding machinery mobile equipment emergencies

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to tolerate all weather elements loud conditions airborne particles (sawdust).
