As a Turbomachinery Aero & Aeromechanics Engineer they will primarily focus on maturing high-fidelity (LES) flow simulation process for turbomachinery components like high pressure turbines turbine vane frames low pressure turbines turbine rear frame fan blades compressors inlets and exhaust nozzles impacting current and future engine this role it is expected to develop standardized simulation methodologies by collaborating with other team members and global design teams; learn the current aero & aeromechanical design processes and apply them to estimate performance of a component and utilize physics understanding to drive design changes assess aerodynamics and aeromechanics related risks like performance short fall flutter forced response and devise testing strategies to validate the simulation methodologies.

Established in 2000 the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is GE Aerospaces multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Pushing the boundaries of innovation every day engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies advanced materials and additive manufacturing.
Role Overview
Develop standardized simulation process for unsteady complex 3D flows
Perform CFD analysis to understand impact on aero and aeromechanical performance and articulate physics understanding in the form of flutter forced response etc.
Develop high fidelity (LES) flow simulation process for current and future engine programs targeting components like Turbines Frames Fans Compressors Inlet and Exhausts
Work collaboratively with global design team on process validation
Leverage digital and machine learning techniques to improve capacity
Assist building external funding proposals
Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools. Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the company
Participate in sharing & documenting lessons learnt into relevant design practices & design boards
The Ideal Candidate
- Ideal candidate should have experience in turbomachinery aerodynamics & aeromechanics and CFD simulations methods (RANS LES)
Required Qualifications
PhD/Post graduate degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering
Strong technical background in Fluid Dynamics Turbomachinery Aerodynamics & Aeromechanics and CFD methods (RANS LES)
At least 5 years of hands-on experience on using commercial/in-house CFD tools in simulating turbomachinery flows and design applications
Ability to own end-to end CFD processes involving CAD generation meshing case set up solver run user defined functions and post processing scripts
Strong problem-solving skills self-learning abilities and shown track record for technical excellence
Ability to work in a cross-functional environment with strong communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands on experience of simulating complex unsteady multistage flows
Exposure and understanding of higher fidelity CFD methods like Large Eddy Simulation (LES)
Exposure to mesh morphing techniques and associated methodologies
Excellent coding skills in Python/C
Experience of using Machine learning methods and optimization techniques
