Because of the temporary nature of these appointments Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Full time/Part time: Full time (no more than 40 hrs./wk.)
Temporary/Permanent: Temporary

Other Conditions: Casual Hire temporary appointment is expected begin December 2025 or soon thereafter. Not to exceed 89 days.

Duties:
  1. Plan coordinate and oversee the implementation of all Title Ill Paieie Activity 3 initiatives for the University of Hawaii at Hilo (UHH) and Hawaii Community College (HCC) faculty.
  2. Organize conduct and evaluate faculty research workshops and academic presentations.
  3. Monitor collect and evaluate participation and engagement data from students faculty staff and administrators
  4. Perform duties across various work settings and maintain flexibility to work variable hours including evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
  5. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited university and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience.
  2. Demonstrated experience in developing and teaching Hawaii-focused curriculum.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of University of Hawaii at Hilo (UHH) programs and services.
  4. Prior work experience within a higher education institution.
  5. Proficiency in operating a personal computer and utilizing word processing software (e.g. MS Word).
  6. Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Masters degree in any field from an accredited university.
  2. Fluent in Hawaiian language.
