PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The part-time department lead for Special Education at Harding Avenue Elementary Schooloversees the department toensure eligibilities and IEPs are in compliance and collaborates with administration within the building to developschedules for students with disabilities. The lead also collaborates with the School Board office administration and staff to develop and implement an instructional program that will effectivelyprovide the best possible education for each student.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teachers License with appropriate endorsement in areato which assigned
- Have knowledge of medical aspects of disabilities and their implications for instruction
- Have knowledge of resources and techniques needed to integrate special education
students into the least restrictive environment - Have experience in curriculum development and developing lesson plans
- Have experience and expertise in using technology in education
Have experience in fostering an inclusive learning environment - Have experience or working familiarity with Google Drive for instruction collaboration
and course work - Have effective written verbal presentation and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with parents and families
- Demonstrate the ability to work and collaborate with a team of other teachers
- Ability to be dependable and punctual
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experienced or have working familiarity with virtual education
FLSA: Exempt
SALARY: $26416.18 - $42806.82 annually; commensurate with experience
