JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/ Objective

East Side House (ESH) is a community resource in the Bronx and Northern Manhattan. We believe education is the key that enables all people to create economic and civic opportunities for themselves their families and their community. ESHs Development team advances our mission by ensuring the resources needed to deliver high-quality programs and services across our community centers and school partnerships.

Reporting to the Director of Development the Institutional Giving & Engagement Officer is responsible for advancing East Side Houses institutional funding and partnership efforts through high-quality grant development government contract support corporate engagement and public-facing stewardship. The Officer will manage a diverse portfolio of government foundation and corporate relationships while coordinating volunteer engagement visibility initiatives and organizational storytelling efforts. As a member of the Development Team the Institutional Giving & Engagement Officer is expected to collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure accurate reporting strong compliance meaningful partnership activation and mission-aligned communications. This position has no direct reports and interacts regularly with Development Finance and Program teams. With a focus on institutional fundraising government contracting and corporate engagement the Officer provides high-quality proposals timely contract support impactful stewardship materials and engagement opportunities that strengthen East Side Houses visibility and resource development.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Development the Institutional Giving & Engagement Officer will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Government & Public Funding

  • Manage the full lifecycle of government contracts including proposal submissions registrations compliance tracking reporting and renewals.
  • Coordinate with Finance and Program teams to ensure accurate budgets fiscal documentation and performance reporting.
  • Maintain an organized calendar of all deadlines and serve as a liaison to agency staff and auditors.

Institutional Fundraising

  • Prepare high-quality proposals letters of inquiry and reports for foundation and corporate funders.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify new institutional and corporate funding opportunities.
  • Steward funder relationships through updates communications and occasional site visits.

Corporate Partnerships & Engagement

  • Coordinate corporate volunteer events donation drives and partnership activities.
  • Support corporate stewardship by fulfilling visibility recognition and branding deliverables.
  • Manage East Side Houses participation in the TCS NYC Marathon and other fundraising events including recruitment communication and donor engagement.

Communications & Public Reporting

  • Collaborate with Communications and Data teams on public-facing materials including impact reports and the annual newsletter.
  • Translate program data and outcomes into clear engaging narratives for funders and partners.
  • Support efforts to increase organizational visibility and strengthen donor confidence.

Systems & Internal Coordination

  • Maintain accurate grant and funder records in Salesforce or other CRM systems.
  • Strengthen internal systems for tracking reporting and compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with Development Finance Program Communications and Data teams to ensure alignment and timely deliverables.
  • Provide guidance to Development Associates or interns as needed (no supervisory duties).

Work Expectations & Conditions

  • Works primarily on-site with regular visits to program locations.
  • Occasional travel required for meetings events and corporate engagements.
  • Supports major organizational events which may include limited evening or weekend hours.
  • Manages multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Qualifications

To perform this position successfully the Institutional Giving & Engagement Officer must be able to fulfill all the elements of the job description to the highest standard and be able to work well with colleagues in a high energy and collaborative work environment. Additional qualifications include:

Education / Experience

  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum 68 years of experience in institutional fundraising government contracting or related nonprofit development work.
  • Proven success managing complex government grants and contracts from registration to reporting.
  • Strong writing editing and analytical skills with an ability to synthesize data into clear persuasive narratives.
  • Demonstrated experience cultivating corporate partnerships and volunteer engagement.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.

Expected Work Schedule
The work schedule expected for this position is: Monday Friday 9am 5pm as aligned to the needs of the agency. The schedule may be adjusted based on ESHs operational needs with notice provided whenever possible.
