L.T. WESTLAKE FINE ARTS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

L.T. Westlake Fine Arts Elementary School is an early learning to Grade 5 school of 70 students with a staff of 14. L.T. Westlake prides itself on having small class sizes and offering its students a variety of learning opportunities to ensure they can explore their interests.

Regular Assistant approx. 6 hours/week

Hours of work Tuesday & Thursday 8:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m.

The assignment includes providing support to students in our Early Learning Program.

We are looking for an energetic creative individual to work in a busy Early Learning classroom. Preference will go to someone who has early learning experience conflict resolution skills and the ability to communicate with students with limited expressive language skills.

• Maintains confidentialityand a patient supportive and enthusiasticcommitmentto students.
• As required provides personal care including toileting diapering feeding dressing grooming etc. ensuringthat studentdignity is maintained. Attends to physical needs including lifting positioning and range of motion programs as identified by appropriate personnel.
• Ensures the safety of students in the school and community which includes maintaining close supervision of students ensuring studentequipment is sanitized and put away retrieving students who attemptto leave their learningenvironment calming and/or restraining students engaged in challenging behaviours; supervising and assisting studentswho utilize a variety of life skill tools (i.e. scissors cooking utensils etc.).
• Maintains collegial relationships with the students learning team.
