The Perinatal Education Program RN educator will be responsible for teaching childbirth preparation classes as well as other program offerings such as Breastfeeding Cesarean Birth Car Seat Safety Sibling position could be a job 2 for a current internal Mayo OB Neonatal or Pediatric those with a base position in the hospital or clinic scheduling in perinatal education works best for those nurses that have a lower FTE base position.
Functions as an integral member of the perinatal health care team in providing education for obstetric clients their families and support persons. The perinatal educator utilizes the nursing process to assess plan and implement and evaluate group and individual client learning. The focus is to promote informed responsible decision making and active participation in client/family health care. The educator is an advocate for expectant families represents Mayo Clinic Rochester and acts as a liaison between the community and health care providers.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
Graduate of an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ANCC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education Masters degree in Nursing program. Relevant RN experience in a clinical setting. Has a minimum of one year clinical work experience in maternal child nursing and/or education.
Must have prior perinatal educator experience
Perinatal or pediatric nursing experience preferred. Childbirth Educator certification recommended. Experience and demonstrated skill in structured and unstructured education. Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal RN license by applicable state requirements.
Midwest - Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
