About the role: The Business Development Officer (BDO) reports to the Economic Development Officer and is responsible for implementing economic development strategies and initiatives for the Municipality of Colchester. The BDO works collaboratively to support existing economic development activities and to improve economic prosperity throughout Colchester County. The BDO works closely with Council CAO senior staff and appropriate government departments agencies and the business community to foster sustainable economic growth and investment in the Municipality. This is done through developing resources to encourage private sector growth attracting marketing and facilitating events developing a customer relations management database administering sales/rental contracts and responding to enquiries about the Debert Business Park researching and preparing funding applications and other duties. This is a permanent full-time position.

Salary Range: Range 6 $72741- $86461

Education & experience required:
  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration Finance or related field
  • 3 years of experience in a field relevant to economic development
  • Certificate in Economic Development and experience working in a municipal environment will be considered assets
  • Conditions of employment include a satisfactory criminal record check and valid NS drivers license
