Regional Trade Compliance Specialist (Contract)

Reporting To: Trade Compliance Manager
Location: Singapore

POSITION SUMMARY

This regional role supports trade and customs compliance activities across multiple Asia Pacific markets. The specialist will oversee import/export compliance processes ensure accurate HS classifications and country-of-origin documentation and support the execution of customs-related audits.

A key part of the role involves working with internal stakeholders and external partners to mitigate compliance risks strengthen internal controls and ensure adherence to evolving trade regulations. The position offers strong regional exposure and is well-suited for professionals who want to deepen their experience in HS classification FTA application and regulatory compliance within a structured cross-functional environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Regional Compliance Operations

• Manage day-to-day trade compliance activities for assigned markets within the region.
• Ensure accuracy of HS classifications country-of-origin records and supporting documentation.
• Maintain import/export control processes in accordance with internal and external requirements.

2. Customs Audit & Risk Management

• Support preparation and execution of internal and external customs-related audits.
• Work with internal teams and consultants to address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
• Identify compliance gaps and contribute to initiatives that reduce regulatory risk.

3. HS COO & FTA Governance

• Validate HS code assignments and maintain product classification accuracy.
• Review country-of-origin qualifications and ensure documentation integrity.
• Assess product eligibility under relevant Free Trade Agreements and maintain accurate records.

4. Stakeholder Communication & Issue Resolution

• Partner closely with supply chain customer service finance and regulatory teams.
• Communicate compliance requirements clearly and reframe technical questions to obtain accurate information.
• Provide first-level guidance on trade compliance matters to internal teams.

5. Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Consolidate data from various markets to prepare dashboards KPIs and compliance reports.
• Support regional initiatives to standardize processes and strengthen compliance frameworks.
• Contribute to training materials and awareness activities to enhance organizational understanding.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

• 3–5 years’ experience in trade compliance customs operations or import/export compliance.
• Strong knowledge of HS classifications country-of-origin rules and FTA qualification criteria.
• Experience supporting or participating in customs-related audits is highly preferred.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to simplify and clarify compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical mindset with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work across multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities in a structured manner.
