About the role

This is a critical role in the OPEX Team at the Site and will report into the Site Operational Excellence Manager/Director. This role is fundamental in executing the Continuous Improvement Plans for the Site to achieve its growth and profitability objectives.

Role Description

The L&D Training Specialist will partner with the site leadership and functional stakeholders to define capability priorities and execute endtoend learning solutions spanning technical compliance leadership and business skills that build the capabilities needed to deliver site performance and competitive advantage. The role will lead in the on-boarding of individuals in the areas of EHS Quality & Productivity. This role will also coordinate and assist in the on-going proficiency in the areas of Productivity via OTJ training. This role will also play a key role in the Operational Excellence Team and execution of learning and development initiatives that align with the Site goals.

Key responsibilities:

L&D Strategy & Governance

  • Co-create the site/function L&D strategy with L&D Business Partners aligned to the business agenda and capability priorities.
  • Ensure solutions follow global frameworks standards systems and processes; align to the Capability Framework.

Needs Assessment Design & Measurement

  • Lead robust learning needs diagnostics (e.g. GEMBA role analysis focus groups interviews) to define capability gaps.
  • With SMEs set target audiences precise learning objectives and clear evaluation mechanisms/measures of success.
  • Define the most effective learning mix (instructor-led e-learning blended social; 70/20/10) using sound instructional design.

Delivery & Enablement (Site Operations)

  • Create and maintain operational training materials; deliver/facilitate training where appropriate.
  • Lead site onboarding across EHS Quality and Productivity; provide and coordinate on-the-job training (including HAPS EPI tools/center-lines).
  • Manage refresher training calendars and compliance tracking.

Stakeholder SME & Vendor Management

  • Broker resources across L&D SMEs technical workplace trainers Centers of Excellence; interface with external suppliers as needed.
  • Coach and advise managers and employees on L&D offerings capability standards and their application.

OPEX & Capability Frameworks

  • Embed capability models/frameworks locally; support enterprise curricula (leadership & business skills) within area of responsibility.
  • Contribute as a key member of the Operational Excellence team on learning initiatives that drive site performance.

EHS Quality & Compliance (Critical)

  • Work in accordance with the Environment Health Safety & Wellbeing Policy and site SOPs; comply with EHS & Engineering standards.
  • Ensure training on incident reporting and investigations; foster a reporting culture.
  • Ensure compliance with site health & safety standards and OHSA; drive Safety Continuous Improvement Frameworks; Provide training support and questions on weekly Gembas.
  • Support the Zero Accident Prevention (ZAP) initiative by reporting near misses/observations per KPI.
  • Manage Refresher training calendar and ensure compliance

Team Leadership (as applicable)

  • May lead or manage a small number of Learning Advisors/Coordinators; initial scope indicates.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or related field OR Associate/Vocational qualification with significant training experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience 3-5 years in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of regulatory/compliance training requirements (e.g. GMP; OSHA).
  • Strong end-to-end L&D capability (needs assessment design & delivery evaluation); excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills; MS Office proficiency; ability to manage multiple projects and change/ambiguity.

Preferred:

  • FMCG experience (1 year); OPEX/Lean Six Sigma exposure (SME level desirable).
  • Experience in complex matrixed environments; financial acumen; ability to build credibility quickly.
