Job Summary:
The Executive Director Business Development will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all commercial business development distribution and customer engagement initiatives. You will drive premium growth deepen market penetration build high-performing sales channels and ensure all commercial practices align with regulatory standards ethical conduct and strong governance.
You will play a key role in shaping the organisations expansion strategy strengthening broker and institutional relationships and driving innovation across traditional and digital sales channels.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
Develop and execute commercial strategies aligned with corporate objectives and NAICOM regulatory expectations.
Lead market expansion new channel development and partnership growth across brokers agents bancassurance digital platforms and institutional clients.
Provide quarterly insights performance reviews and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and the Board.
Commercial & Financial Leadership
Drive revenue growth while ensuring profitability and underwriting discipline.
Lead budgeting forecasting and commercial performance monitoring.
Ensure accurate premium reporting reconciliation and compliance with NAICOMs Prudential and Market Conduct guidelines.
Enforce No Premium No Cover premium debt controls and transparent customer practices across all channels.
Sales Leadership & Channel Performance
Lead the national sales force and drive excellence across corporate retail broker bancassurance and digital channels.
Implement CRM and sales automation tools to improve pipeline visibility production tracking and customer retention.
Establish performance metrics incentive structures and field engagement routines that drive commercial productivity.
Governance Compliance & Board Interface
Prepare strategic updates commercial reports and business development insights for Board and Committee meetings.
Ensure adherence to NAICOMs corporate governance requirements ethical conduct and fit-and-proper standards.
Collaborate closely with Legal Compliance Finance and Underwriting to ensure commercial integrity and regulatory compliance.
Bachelors degree in Business Administration Marketing Insurance Economics Finance or related field.
Masters degree or professional qualification (ACII FCII CFA MBA etc.) is a strong advantage.
Additional training in strategy sales leadership or digital transformation is desirable.
1215 years of progressive experience in the insurance industry.
At least 5 years in a senior commercial business development distribution or strategy role.
Strong track record of achieving commercial results managing complex channels and engaging the market at a senior level.
Leadership & Technical Competencies
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret portfolio performance revenue levers and market trends.
Excellent understanding of underwriting principles as they affect product distribution and risk selection.
Proven ability to design and manage CRM systems sales automation tools and digital sales platforms.
Advanced negotiation communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong governance awareness and commitment to ethical sales practices.
Ability to lead inspire and mentor high-performing teams across multiple regions.
