SUMMARY:
The Department of Health and Human Performance at East Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Kinesiology with a focus on Exercise Science. The appointment will begin in Fall 2026 or as negotiated.
This faculty member will contribute to undergraduate and potentially graduate programs in kinesiology and human performance engage in active scholarship and serve the department college and university. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in strength and conditioning and a commitment to preparing students for applied careers in the exercise science and athletic performance domains.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise science biomechanics strength and conditioning and related areas. Teaching load will be a 4:4 Fall/Spring with Summer potential teaching opportunities.
Supervise undergraduate and graduate student research including theses and applied projects.
Maintain an active and focused scholarly research agenda that leads to publications and external funding to support R2 research initiatives and progress toward R1.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance academic programs.
Engage in university and professional service activities.
Advise and mentor students academically and professionally.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
An earned Ph.D. in Exercise Science or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution (ABD candidates will be considered but must complete the degree before the start date).
Current NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
Evidence of highly effective teaching at the collegiate level.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Documented professional experience in strength and conditioning at the high school collegiate or professional level.
Evidence of an active or emerging research agenda in human performance athletic conditioning or related areas.
Experience supervising graduate research and/or mentoring students into professional or doctoral programs.
Experience developing and delivering courses in hybrid or online formats.
A documented external grant procurement history.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

The Department of Health and Human Performance is housed within the College of Education and Human Services and offers tracks in Kinesiology Exercise Science Allied Health Public Health Nutrition Strength and Conditioning and Sport & Recreation Management. Our programs emphasize practical experience interdisciplinary collaboration and research-informed teaching.
