Core Responsibilities

  • Collect data through surveys interviews and focus groups.
  • Manage and analyze research data
  • Develop reports and visual summaries
  • Research and compile evidence-based practices
  • Collaborate with team and maintain professional standards

What will you be doing in your role

  • Learn to develop and conduct high-quality evaluations to support a data-driven innovative
  • Accurately develop culturally competent data collection tools collect clean manage compile and interpret participant data from surveys interviews and focus groups and identify meaningful
  • Respect participants experiences maintain confidentiality and demonstrate ethical behavior throughout data
  • Analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to provide a comprehensive understanding of program outcomes with attention to how client feedback program structures and community conditions interact highlighting connections that inform actionable recommendations.
  • Perform descriptive statistics and compare data across time points groups or interventions to identify trends and
  • Prepare written reports briefs and presentations that clearly communicate findings using charts tables visualizations and concise summaries to technical and non-technical
  • Conduct thorough desk research on policies interventions and best practices to inform projects and strengthen
  • Engage in continuous learning about trends in human-centered design behavioral science poverty interventions and data
  • Work effectively with team members partners and supervisors while demonstrating cultural competence ethics and
  • Navigate changing project needs adjust priorities and respond effectively to unforeseen challenges with an adaptive attitude.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this Community and Administrative Practice (CAP) field placement students will demonstrate broad CAP social work skills and professional behavior as defined by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE):

  1. Demonstrate ethical professional and culturally competent research practice by applying NASW ethical standards protecting client confidentiality and using ethical frameworks throughout data collection analysis and reporting.
  2. Collect interpret and present program evaluation data using appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods to inform decision-making and assess program effectiveness.
  3. Integrate client voice and systems thinking into evaluation processes by identifying how client experiences organizational structures and community contexts interact to shape outcomes.
  4. Collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams to co-design evaluations analyze findings and translate complex data into actionable insights for programs leadership and external partners.
  5. Communicate findings clearly and persuasively to multiple audiences within a nonprofit environment demonstrating the ability to adapt messaging and presentation style to diverse stakeholders.

Are you the next Research & Evaluation Intern

  • Masters Degree in progress in Social Work or related field preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience or interest working with low-income populations
  • Understanding of basic evaluation methodology
  • Must have reliable transportation a current Texas drivers license and evidence of auto liability insurance
