Job Summary
Thisposition is responsible for processing payments for the Cash PostingDepartment. This on-site position is also responsible for noticing trendsin insurance payments identifying patterns and contacting insurance companiesfor resolution.
ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Post all manual and electronic payments to patients accounts
- Perform reconciliations to the general ledger and other month-end procedures
- Identify patterns of over payments and bring them to the attention of appropriate supervisory personnel; identify billing errors inaccurate payments posting errors and resolve accordingly
- Review insurance remittance advices for accuracy
- Assure all monthly weekly and daily deadlines are met in the cash applications process.
- Research unidentified payments and/or recoupment to determine appropriate resolution
- Notify appropriate personnel of trends or problems with specific payers
- Identify and coordinate remittance issues with accounts receivable departmental staff
- Notify appropriate personnel of trends or problems with specific payers
- Other job-related duties as assigned
EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE
*HighSchool Diploma or GED required
*Minimumof two years of experience in medical payment posting required; accounts receivable(A/R) experience preferred
KNOWLEDGESKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strongverbal and written communication skills; able to interact professionally withinternal and external contacts
Highlydetail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities
Ableto prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
Proficientwith Microsoft Office including Excel (formulas sorting filtering)
Comfortableusing accounting or financial software and navigating electronic paymentsystems
Professionalphone etiquette
Emergiconrequires satisfactory pre-employment drug testing and background check.
