Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative (Northeast Power) has an opening for a Fleet Mechanic Intern at the Palmyra Missouri location. Northeast Power is a transmission cooperative delivering power to northeast Missouri and southeast Iowa.
This is a paid summer internship starting in May 2026 and ending in August 2026. The standard work schedule follows a 4-day 10-hour shift Monday through Thursday. Some flexibility in workdays and hours may be required based on project needs and assignments.
What You Will Do:
This position offers hands-on exposure to fleet maintenance operations and provides an opportunity to learn directly from the fleet mechanic. The intern will support routine repairs services and the documentation necessary for an efficient and compliant fleet addition you will:
Assist the fleet mechanic with maintenance diagnostic work and repairs.
Support the coordination of external fleet repairs including transportation of vehicles to and from vendors.
Gather and input fleet information into the fleet management software.
Maintain organized records to support operational accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Assist in monitoring parts supplies and service needs for operational readiness.
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for a motivated and dependable individual with a strong interest in vehicle or diesel mechanics. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a certification or degree related to vehicle mechanics diesel technology or a closely related addition we are looking for:
Strong attention to detail and an eagerness to learn hands-on mechanical skills.
Ability to follow established safety procedures and work effectively with tools and equipment.
Solid organizational skills to support documentation and record-keeping requirements.
A commitment to reliability teamwork and professional communication.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
