Key skills and qualifications

Experience: Previous experience in homebuilder purchasing is often preferred. A background in purchasing procurement or supply chain management is essential.
Education: A bachelors degree in business administration commerce or a related field is commonly required.
Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills are crucial for securing favorable terms with vendors.
Technical proficiency: Familiarity with purchasing and project management software is beneficial for improving efficiency.
Must be expert with Buildertrend construction software
Must be proficient with Quickbooks

The ability to develop and train workflow is a must!

Core responsibilities

Procurement: Solicit bids from subcontractors and vendors for materials and labor and then negotiate prices to secure the best terms.
Budgeting and cost control: Create and maintain construction budgets and manage costs by making timely and cost-effective purchasing decisions.
Vendor management: Create and maintain lists of reliable subcontractors and vendors to ensure a steady supply of materials and services.
Contract administration: Issue purchase orders and provide support to project managers on contract specifications and any necessary changes.
Risk management: Manage risk exposure by choosing company-aligned clients tracking investments and understanding pricing to avoid costly issues.
Market analysis: Stay informed about market trends and pricing fluctuations for new materials and products to make informed decisions.
