Equipment and Maintenance Engineering Manager

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the equipment and maintenance engineering team to ensure optimal performance of all machinery and equipment.
• Develop implement and continuously improve preventative maintenance programs and procedures to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
• Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement making recommendations for upgrades or replacements as necessary.
• Collaborate with production teams to schedule maintenance activities with minimal impact on operations.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards conducting regular safety audits and training for team members.
• Manage budgets and resources for maintenance operations including tracking expenses and optimizing costs.
• Oversee the selection and purchasing of equipment and maintenance tools ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging innovative solutions and best practices in maintenance processes.
• Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance activities equipment performance and team performance to senior management.
• Responsible for setting-up assembly and test stations work closely with Product and Process Engineers to build and set-up user friendly workstations consisting of assembly machines test equipment jigs and fixtures and software interfaces to automate the whole process.
• Responsible for design selection buy-off machine and equipment with consideration of production and process design and requirements. Design install and test equipment upgrades and modification to improve uptime yield cycle time and machine throughput.
• Author machine and equipment operating instruction and manual. Provide maintenance documents for all equipment and secure all maintenance activities are being carried out as per planned schedule. Perform machine and equipment FMEA studies and maintain document for out-of-control action plans.
• Equipment design and development new parts vendor qualification. Support new equipment installation.
• Report against various functions including equipment uptime maintenance effectiveness and maintenance costs versus plan.
• Develop assembly and test automation solutions responsible for design development simulate and test of automated assembly and test solutions for the whole production operations. This also cover design for assembly and test graphic user interfaces ensuring user-friendly programs automated data gathering and analysis and automated report generation.
• Leads training of Engineers Technicians and Operators in operation and maintenance of newly introduced equipment and automation process.

Education & Experience

• . Electronics Engineering (Physics Electrical and related can apply). Post-graduate studies are highly regarded.
• At least 10 years of experience in Semiconductor or Electronics / Optoelectronics and Fiber optics Industry. Proven track record and working knowledge in Electrical/Electronics manufacturing industry. With good programming skills with focus on factory automation skills assembly and test processes. Familiar with object object oriented programming C/C Visual Basic and preferably some experience with wring queries against an SQL database. Cleanroom experience and knowledge of laser and optical systems power meters Strong mechanical aptitude Autocad skills is a plus.
  

Skills

• Strong knowledge of maintenance methodologies (e.g. TPM PM RCM) and safety regulations.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
• Knowledge on optics specifically on fiber optics and micro-optics device physics is a huge advantage
• Experience on basic optical fiber skills fusion splicing cleaving termination and testing is highly desired
• Familiarity on fiber optics device testing equipment such as laser sources tunable laser source optical spectrum analyzers power meter BR meter OTDR and related equipment.
• Optomechanical design working knowledge of Solidworks or Autocad is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Basic manufacturing statistic knowledge correlation process optimization hypothesis testing coefficient of variance analysis six sigma and some statistical process control methodologies.
• Extensive laboratory experience with photonics test and measurement (measurement of attenuation device insertion loss beam profile spectral profile optical power pulse energy etc). A working knowledge of Labview or other object oriented programming language like C/C and Visual Basic is a plus.
• Familiar with industry equipment communication interfaces GPIB RS232USB etc. Able to communicate equipment with each other and create a routine specific to the assembly and test automation process. Familiar with microcontroller PLC and HMI automation.
• Good industry automation skills motion control vision system automatic optical inspection data management and analysis.
• Able to interpret product design and specification then develop automated robust test and assembly processes to achieve these requirements considering productivity product quality and product reliability
• With knowledge on statistical methodologies and tools. Working knowledge of SAS JMP or Minitab is a strong plus.
• Business skills responsible for managing budgets leading a team and liaising with suppliers. Should have strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
• With DFM/A methodology knowledge. Experience using Design for Manufacturability and Assembly methodologies for ease of manufacture and assembly processing of the parts that will form the product.
