Broad Functions
The Product / FA Engineer is the overall architect of the manufacturing workflow for the HDD Electronics. Responsible for designing implementing and controlling the systems used to assemble test and integrate electronics into HDD products. They are also responsible for monitoring operations and troubleshooting issues that arise during production as well as supporting continuously improving PCBA yield and reducing costs.
Supporting new product introduction related to PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) during development build transition to Low and High-Volume Manufacturing (LVM / HVM) for mass production (sustaining phase) until End of Life (EOL).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This job is responsible for delivering the organization outcome as stated:
- Supporting new product introduction functions:
- Ensure a timely build and efficient transition of development PCBAs to EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) and factory until the program is EOL
- Ensure 100% execution free product transfer to EMS in terms of product readiness based on EMS capability SMT (Surface Mount Technology) process and quality requirement
- Supporting sustaining / HVM functions:
- Deliver the right requirements and process to monitor product performance including supporting engineering documents releasing at EMS in the event the BOM (Bill of Material) revision roll-up
- Manage post transfer qualification for electrical components by engaging with SME (Subject Matter Expert) and functional teams to finalize the Master Test Plan (MTP) and grandfathering plan
- Providing end-to-end oversite of the entire electronics production processes areas and stations: ECAT Servo Write Functional Test SRST Feature Test OQA and ORT
- Work with development teams to improve manufacturability and reduce production costs
Authority
In order for the incumbent to deliver the expected outcome the incumbent is authorized to perform the following:
- Releasing & preparing engineering documents including component build matrix to support development PCBA build at EMS as well as for factory system
- Performing component changes and BOM updates in PCBA BOM via RCO (Revision Change Order) or NRCO (Non Revision Change Order) upon approved by ECB (Engineering Change Board) members
- Providing non-moving disposition and prepare conversion list to support rework PCBA activity
- Supporting HDD (Hard Disk Drive) logistic & shipment for CFT (Card Function Test) testing at EMS
- Monitoring production with metrics and data analytics to identify trends variances and opportunities for improvement. Key metrics include Overall Yield First-Time Yield (FTY) and Rolling Throughput Yield (RTY)
- Monitoring EC (Error Codes) related to PCBA RTR (Return to Rework) & RTV (Return to Vendor) yield
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Development SQE QA Procurement and other manufacturing disciplines) in troubleshooting problems and implementing relevant corrective actions
Qualifications :
Education Requirements
- Bachelors Degree or Professional Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronic / Electromechanical / Computer Science) or related fields
Experience Requirements
- 1-2 years experience in HDD or relevant industry / fresh graduates are encourage to apply
Other Requirements
- Willing to travel
- Demonstrate good command of English proficiency (both written & verbal)
Knowledge
- Exposed related to PCBA SMT assembly process or basic PCBA FA knowledge
- Exposed to manufacturing or production environment HDD Technology and Quality Management System
Skills
- Skilled in Microsoft Office basic programming skills in Spotfire Phyton Tableau and Analysis Technique
