Position Overview
The CEO will lead the overall management and strategic direction of a licensed virtual currency exchange in Japan. This role requires strong leadership compliance awareness and the ability to engage effectively with regulators financial partners and internal teams to ensure sustainable growth under Japans regulatory framework.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the overall operation strategy and financial performance of the exchange.
Ensure full compliance with JFSA and JVCEA regulatory requirements.
Serve as the primary point of contact with Japanese regulators and financial institutions.
Develop and execute business strategies aligned with local market and compliance expectations.
Lead cross-functional teams (Operations Marketing Risk and Compliance) to drive performance.
Foster a culture of transparency accountability and regulatory integrity.
Represent the company in external communications partnerships and industry associations.
Requirements
Japanese nationality or permanent resident status (required for regulatory communication).
10 years of experience in finance fintech or crypto asset management.
Proven leadership experience in a regulated financial or technology company.
Deep understanding of Japans Payment Services Act and crypto exchange regulations.
Strong communication skills in both Japanese and English.
Strategic thinker with hands-on operational capability.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience engaging with FSA or JVCEA.
Track record in building or scaling licensed financial institutions.
Background in compliance risk or legal management within crypto or securities firms.
