Summary:
The Senior Social Work Assistant role is vital to Birmingham Childrens Trusts mission to make a positive difference for the citys most vulnerable children and young people. Operating within the Area Services the post-holder will provide direct high-quality support to social workers by managing an allocated casework role focused on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The role is highly mobile involving regular visits across the city to work with children young people and families with an expectation of being available for duty/back-up duty on a rotational basis.
Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for an allocated worker casework role as assigned by the Team Manager/Social Worker.
- Ensure the well-being and safety of the child/young person is paramount through analysing all necessary information to complete assessments that comply with statutory requirements.
- Accurately record report and communicate using accurate up-to-date evidence-based information in accordance with statutory and organisational requirements.
- The role requires the post-holder to be in Birmingham most days and involves visiting children and families placed around the city.
Essentials:
- Experience of working with children and/or their families in a care setting.
- Experience of liaising with agencies to secure help for children and/or their families.
- Demonstrates a basic knowledge of social work practice and a basic understanding of the legislative framework applying to working with children and families in a statutory setting.
- Shows respect for diversity and values individual differences treating all people fairly and appropriately regardless of protected characteristics. Demonstrates an understanding of disadvantages and social deprivation.
- Registeration of Social Work England(SWE)

- You should have right to work in U.K
- This role requires a Basic DBS
