About the Programme
Our 12month Student Work Placement starting in September 2026 offers handson experience in innovative drug discovery within a collaborative researchdriven organisation. Based at AstraZenecas Gothenburg site youll deepen your expertise apply your skills on real projects and develop new capabilities. Youll be mentored by experienced scientists and become an integral part of a supportive highperforming team.

About the role
This labbased placement is in the NGS/Transcriptomics function within Discovery Sciences. You will gain experience with cuttingedge sequencing technologies and contribute to key NGS deliveries for clinical and preclinical projects across diverse diseases species and drug modalities. Daytoday work includes sample preparation nucleic acid extraction sequencing library generation sequencing and quality control using both manual and automated liquid handling. Youll apply molecular biology and NGS to generate highquality data that supports disease and biology understanding advances drug development projects and enables target validation. As sequencing is a rapidly evolving field youll have opportunities to contribute to method development and validation. Strong recordkeeping attention to detail and clear communication are essential as you collaborate with project investigators partners and data scientists across global AZ functions.

About the team
You will join the NGS/Transcriptomics group who sits within Discovery Sciences and is a collaborative team that works closely with project investigators key partners and data scientists to ensure smooth project delivery. We combine experimental and computational expertise to produce robust sequencing data and insights that drive decisionmaking across therapy areas.

Who can apply
Were seeking students completing a Bachelors or Masters degree at a Swedish institution. You should be able to take a 12month study break and have the right to work in Sweden for the full duration without needing additional permits. Across all our programmes we look for individuals with drive enthusiasm strong teamwork skills and a genuine desire to learn.

Essential requirements:

• BSc or MSc student at a Swedish university in Molecular Biology Biotechnology Biochemistry Genetics or a related discipline.
• You must have completed at least two years of your university education at the time of starting the placement and be returning to complete your studies after this opportunity ends.
• Applicants must have the eligibility to work in Sweden for 12 months from September 2026.
• Students will be expected to take a study break from their education to participate in the programme this will need to be arranged by the student at their institution. You must ensure that you receive the approval to take a study break from your university.
