About the Role:
We are seeking a Assistant Controller to join our international Finance team in Bengaluru India. This is a pivotal role focused on financial reporting working closely with global peers and all members of the finance team.
This role is ideal for a finance professional with strong technical expertise and a collaborative mindset looking to grow within a purpose-led international organization.
As a Assistant Controller at the Thomson Reuters Foundation you will report into the Area Controller and be responsible for:
Audit and year end
Support the Area Controller in preparing audit documentation.
Respond to audit queries and ensure timely submission of required materials.
Assist in ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
Taxation and regulatory compliance
Support the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory filings.
Liaise with external advisors and internal teams for tax-related matters.
Prepare supporting schedules for taxation and other regulatory filings as required.
General accounting and month end reporting
Prepare journals and resolve transaction queries.
Perform monthly reconciliations and ensure accuracy of general ledger accounts.
Provide contract accounting support for TRF projects including accruals and revenue accounting.
Produce reports for donors in-line with contractual obligations.
Maintain budget tracking files and share with Project Manager monthly.
Maintain the monthly consolidated project dashboard report and disseminate to internal stakeholders.
Financial analysis and reporting
Assist in preparing monthly management reports and variance analysis.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes for projects.
Provide financial insights to support organizational risk management.
Process Improvement & Compliance
Contribute to the development of financial policies and internal controls.
Stay updated on international and particularly UK regulatory changes affecting charities.
Participate in finance system upgrades and process optimization initiatives.
Other duties
Support business continuity as agreed with the CFO
About You
To be our Assistant Controller you will have:
Qualifications:
Professional finance qualification (CA CMA ICWA CPA MBA Finance or equivalent).
Experience:
A candidate up to 2 years of accounting experience.
Experience in statutory audit tax compliance and financial reporting.
Exposure to charity/non-profit sector is an advantage.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems.
Advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across time zones.
Proactive detail-oriented and committed to continuous improvement.
Strong business partnering with non-finance trained stakeholders.
