Modul University Vienna is seeking for two outstanding scholars for Researcher positions (PostDoc) for its Vienna Institute for Global Studies (VIGS Institute to conduct research in the area of entrepreneurship entrepreneurial ecosystems and innovation and to teach undergraduate and graduate courses ( This position also provides opportunities to take leadership roles in various strategic fields of the new institute (e.g. development of the Modul University Vienna Start-up Hub).
Your responsibilities
- Teaching and conducting examinations independently (the standard teaching load for this position is 5 units/week per semester (1 unit 45 minutes of teaching).
- Teaching courses such as entrepreneurship new venture creation managing high growth firms; public policy and ecosystem development.
- Establishing relationships with stakeholders from the industry and developing a field of applied research related to the current and future challenges of the startup ecosystem.
- Contributing to the academic self-administration duties of the VIGS Institute.
Your profile
- Doctorate in economics business administration management or a related field within the social sciences.
- Evidence of research potential preferably with a strong focus on new technologies like complexity science network analysis or big data analytics.
- Profound knowledge of different research methods (qualitative and quantitative)
- Commitment to high quality teaching including experiential learning.
- Ability to teach courses in the field of entrepreneurship innovation and related areas.
- Ability to attract external funding to support research programs and to successfully build collaborative research programs with other universities research institutes and industry.
- Excellent spoken and written English language skills; proficiency in German language is welcome.

Further information
This is a fulltime fixed term two-year contract position where applicants are prepared to work 40 hours per week (with overtime hours). The initial salary is EUR 50.000 before taxes (plus approx. 30% Arbeitgeberanteil contribution to the social security and pension fund paid by the employer according to Austrian Law) with additional remuneration for extra teaching or supervision of theses. The position remains open until filled; the review of applications will commence immediately after the announcement. Starting date: 1 February 2026.
