Job Description Summary:
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices. Provides supervisory functions for nursing staff and is the clinics only advice nurse.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Supervision:
- Assists in the recruitment management and retention of clinical staff.
- Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of clinical staff.
- Orients new clinical staff to the practice.
- Participates in the evaluation process of clinical department staff.
- Updates clinical policies and procedures annually.
- Responsible for reporting risk management issues to management.
- Strives to attain individual goals negotiated with administrators and physicians.
- Assumes responsibility for own career development CPR certification and licensure requirements.
Assessment:
- Performs thorough assessment of patients both in person and by telephone. Documents pertinent information in the medical record.
Planning:
- Participates in establishing and updating standards of care for patients. Utilizes interdisciplinary collaboration in planning care.
- Participates in the development and implementation of nursing policies standing orders and patient education materials.
- Review upcoming schedules in advance ensuring timely and accurate preparation for procedures and ensures that necessary medications and supplies are on hand as needed.
Implementation:
- Prepares and administers physician-ordered chemotherapy and other medications according to established policies and procedures.
- Performs physician-ordered treatments as per protocol.
- Responds in an appropriate and timely manner to anticipated or unexpected clinical problems.
Patient Evaluation
- Participates and contributes to ensure quality patient care.
- Revises procedures according to patient needs new information and technology.
- Documents evaluations in medical record.
- Answers all patient calls and returns all patient messages by the end of each day.
Patient Education: Patient and Families
- Provides patients and their families with verbal and written information regarding their illness therapies and general healthcare.
- Documents teaching activities and patient progress in medical records.
Communication:
- Ensures a professional and helpful working environment by upholding the standards as adopted by the practice.
- Demonstrates ability to listen and establishes an environment that enables employees patients and families to express their feelings.
- Demonstrates accepting and unbiased behavior toward employees and patients.
- Recognizes self-limitations and seeks appropriate assistance when necessary.
- Recognizes and resolves conflicts with assistance from administrator if necessary.
- Recognizes and supports fellow staff members under stress.
- Participates in staff meetings and other professional activities.
- Demonstrates ability to listen to peers and supervisors in order to absorb and understand clinical and administrative operations and protocols.
- Demonstrates resourcefulness in obtaining answers when presented with problems from both clinical and administrative personnel.
Administration:
- Participates in maintaining equipment and supplies. Orders and tracks all equipment necessary to meet expected patient needs drugs solutions and external dressings and devices.
- Ensures that encounter forms are complete and accurate.
- Keeps treatment rooms and lab clean orderly and stocked. Tracks expiration dates and returns goods for refund as necessary.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations as set by the medical practice and OSHA.
- Demonstrates knowledge and competence in use of all medical equipment.
- Processes disability and insurance forms. Flags appropriate records to be copied for release of records to patients other physicians and/or facilities.
Advocacy:
- With other healthcare providers ensure that the patient and family possess knowledge and understanding of the patients illness and therapy in order to attain self-management participation in therapy and optimal quality of life.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a degree in nursing with a minimum of two years experience in nursing (clinical understanding required willing to teach Urology specifics).
License & Certifications:
- Current California license as a LVN.
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required.

Compensation:
The posted pay range complies with applicable law and reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Individual pay is set by skills experience qualifications and internal/market equity consistent with MarinHealths compensation philosophy. Positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by those agreements.
