The Science Technician will ensure practical lessons run smoothly by preparing apparatus transporting and preparing materials maintaining laboratory equipment and managing chemical and consumable stocks. Role responsibilities
- Prepare set up and clear laboratory practicals for KS3KS5 ensuring apparatus and reagents are correctly arranged.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment carry out routine checks and log any faults for repair.
- Manage chemical stores and consumables maintain accurate inventories and ensure safe storage in line with COSHH.
- Assist staff with demonstrations and support pupils with practical procedures where required promoting safe techniques.
- Maintain up-to-date safety documentation help produce risk assessments and support departmental audits in Lewisham.
Person specification
- Practical experience in laboratory or technical support roles and confident handling of science equipment.
- Strong working knowledge of COSHH PPE safe storage and disposal of chemicals and risk-assessment practice.
- Highly organised able to manage multiple demands and maintain accurate departmental records.
- Clear communicator with the ability to work closely with teachers pupils and external contractors in Lewisham.
- Able to start January 2026 and to take part in induction and any mandatory training before January 2026.
