Overview

The International Education Services (IES) Branch at Alberta Education and Childcare operates in a fast-paced high-quality environment supporting international education initiatives across Albertas K 12 sector. The Branch leads strategic planning policy development and international relations related to education.

This temporary administrative position provides direct support to the Spanish and German Special Language Advisors posted to Alberta through international agreements. The role requires strong communication skills in Spanish German and English excellent administrative capabilities cultural awareness and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proofread format and prepare Word documents.
  • Update budgets and maintain information in Excel.
  • Assist Special Language Advisors with event planning meeting coordination and venue bookings.
  • Create official documents memos and correspondence.
  • Handle phone calls and email communication.
  • Support the creation review and release of branch documents.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as copying scanning faxing filing and records management (physical & digital).
  • Process verify and review expense submissions.
  • Take clear and accurate meeting minutes.
  • Provide additional support to other Special Language Advisors and branch activities as needed.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Strong ability to read write and speak German Spanish and English.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience using German in an office setting.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience using Spanish in an office setting.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint).
  • Minimum 1 year of administrative experience.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience living or working abroad (1 year).
  • Experience working within the Government of Alberta (1 year).
  • Experience collaborating with international colleagues (1 year).
  • Experience working with schools or school authorities (1 year).
