Job Summary

A Concrete Pump Operator is a skilled worker in the construction industry whose primary job is to operate concrete pumping machinery to deliver concrete from ready-mix trucks to the places on a construction site where the concrete needs to be poured. This typically involves working with a boom pump or a line pump setting up the pumping system (hoses stabilizers) and coordinating with the rest of the construction crew.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks

Based on typical job descriptions (like in the U.S. or Europe) and adapting to the Macedonian context:

  1. Set up of Pumping Equipment

    • Position and stabilize the pump truck on site.

    • Deploy and connect hoses and pipelines for concrete delivery.

    • Set up the stabilizer legs / outriggers (if boom pump) to ensure safe operation.

  2. Operation of Concrete Pump

    • Operate the pump to deliver concrete to the correct location according to the sites needs. Energy Jobline1

    • Control the flow rate pressure and direction of concrete to prevent blockages and ensure precision.

  3. Inspection & Maintenance

    • Inspect pump equipment before and after use for any defects or damage. Energy Jobline1

    • Perform routine maintenance (daily/weekly) on the pump and hoses.

    • Clean the pumping system (hoses lines) after work to prevent concrete hardening inside. 1

    • Coordinate with mechanics / maintenance teams for more complex repairs.

  4. Safety Management

    • Follow all safety protocols; wear PPE (personal protective equipment).

    • Ensure the stability of the pump during operation and check all connections.

    • Report any safety hazards or operational problems to supervisors. Energy Jobline

  5. Coordination & Communication

    • Work closely with site supervisors / foremen to understand where and how the concrete needs to be placed.

    • Coordinate with the driver of the concrete mixer trucks to ensure timely delivery and pumping.

    • Assist with placement planning: judging how much concrete to pump where and when.

  6. Record-Keeping

    • Fill out inspection reports maintenance logs and usage forms.

    • Report any incidents breakdowns or quality issues.
