Job Summary

UWA School of Agriculture and Environment

  • Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for until June 2028.
  • Base salary range: Level A $83499 $112371; Level B $118150 $139812 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

This position will support research within the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Network (TERN) at UWA. TERN is a national network funded by the Australian Governments National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) with activities in WA co-funded by the Government of Western Australian. TERN is housed within the School of Agriculture and Environment at UWA. There is a national network of regional hubs each with research leaders students and technical officers. The WA node of TERN is responsible for representing operating and translating activities of TERNs Australian Environmental Observatory with respect to inputs and outputs of relevance to WA.

About the opportunity

  • Develop expertise in research and associated technical activities within the TERN project with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience are gained
  • Proactively support the management delivery and operational functions of the TERN project
  • We are seeking a motivated individual with a collaborative approach and a willingness to learn. While the appointee may not currently possess all the required skills and experience they will be supported to develop the necessary capabilities

About you

  • PhD in plant biology agricultural systems climate science or a related discipline.
  • Commitment to developing innovative and effective approaches to teaching and learning in areas related to environmental monitoring ecology or data analysis.
  • Willingness to engage in training or mentoring of students and collaborators in field and laboratory techniques under supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to participate in high-quality research with evidence of or potential for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conducting fieldwork and laboratory analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and relate effectively to staff students and stakeholders at all levels.

Note: Ability and willingness to work safely from heights (up to 40 m) for field instrumentation and maintenance

A current C class drivers licence will be required by the successful applicant.
