The Process Development Engineerwill support the development ofnew innovativepackaging concepts byfinding commerciallyviablesolutions andhow they could be made. You will focus on manufacturing feasibilitymechanisationand automation working closely with internal teams andmechanisation network and selected external partnersto designtestand refine equipment and processes. When concepts show potential you will prepare them for handover to other teams who will take them forward into detailed development and scale-up.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assess how developed packaging concepts could be produced and used in customer operations
Collaborate with design R&Dand supply chain teams to shape scalable solutions
Explore manufacturing and automation options to support feasibility and scale-up
Work withR&Dsuppliers andselected externalpartners to test new processes and materials
Translate ideas into practical trials and pilot runs
Use prototyping and modelling to test and refine concepts
With input from the Head of Machine Systems exploreemerging technologies and methods that could unlock new capabilities
Manage timelines and align stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes
Processmapcurrent and future states
Ensure all concepts are credible and grounded in practical feasibility
Prepare concepts for handover to product development and other teams when ready
Ensure all solutions meet safetysustainabilityand operational standards
About You
Degree in Engineering Manufacturing Automation or a related field
Strong understanding of packaging processes and how theyimpactcustomer operations and supply chains
Experience in automation and mechanisation development for packaging and production
Skilled in assessing feasibility and scalability of new concepts
Able to translate early ideas into practical trials and pilot runs
Comfortable working with ambiguity and shaping new ways of doing things
Good collaboration skills across technical and commercial teams
Awareness of emerging technologiesmaterialsand automation methods
Clear communicator who can explain technical ideas simply
Organised and able to manage multiple projects and timelines
Curious mindset with a focus on learning and continuous improvement.
