Maglev is looking for fast-paced enthusiastic motivated and collaborative interns who have a drive to learn and will specialize in mechanical and aerospace engineering. Theywill work under the direction of a lead engineer to develop and implement project deliverables. Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of mechanical and aerospace engineering projects.
Responsibilities:
CAD Design & Modeling: Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g. SolidWorks Fusion 360 Onshape) to create and modify detailed 3D models and engineering drawings for mechanical components and assemblies.
Rapid Prototyping Execution: Operate and maintain 3D printers (FDM SLA etc.) and other rapid prototyping tools to quickly fabricate components for design validation and testing.
Testing & Iteration: Design and execute physical testing plans to validate the performance strength and fit of prototype components driving necessary design revisions based on empirical data.
Assembly & Integration: Assist in the hands-on assembly alignment and mechanical integration of complex systems and subsystems.
Documentation: Maintain organized files of all CAD models revisions and detailed documentation for prototypes and final designs.
Qualifications :
Academic Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or a closely related technical field.
Proven experienced in at least one industry-standard CAD software package.
Hands-On Prototyping: Extensive demonstrable experience operating and troubleshooting various 3D printing technologies (understanding materials slicing and print optimization).
Prior involvement in rapid design and build projects especially those requiring quick iteration and hands-on problem solving
Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of fundamental mechanical principles (statics dynamics material science) and practical skills using basic shop tools.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) concepts.
Experience in university or competitive engineering teams such as SAE Aero SAE Auto Formula SAE Design Build Fly AIAA competitions or similar
Bonus:
Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Prior exposure to or experience using FEA tools (e.g. ANSYS SolidWorks Simulation) to analyze stress strain and vibrational characteristics of components is a significant advantage.
