The Cowichan Valley School District is seeking an individual to join our dynamic Technology Services team as our Student Information System (SIS) Manager.

The Cowichan Valley School District extends north to Saltair south to Spectacle Lake on the Malahat and west to the Lake Cowichan region. Position Summary
Reporting to the District Principal of Instruction and Innovation the SIS Manager will be responsible for assisting in the deployment and on-going coordination of the School Districts SIS plan by providing level one support to SIS users setting District procedural standards in consultation with the District Principal generating and analyzing data from collection systems supporting 1701 procedures and completing tasks relating to district communications. The SIS Manager will also support clerical staff change processes through the development and delivery of training.
Responsibilities
Assists the District Principal of Instruction and Innovation in:
Setting SIS data procedures and standards for schools.
Acting as MyEd lead/level 1 contact for the Cowichan Valley School District implementing and sustaining the school district student information system plan.
Developing and delivering ongoing clerical training to support changes in business processes involving student information systems and financial systems ( MyEd SSDAS Brightspace KEV etc ).
Supporting data procedures and configuration related to imports into our learning dashboard systems and other third-party systems used by the district.
Initiating and managing all school district SIS accounts.
Ensuring that initial onboarding training for clerical staff and privacy training for all staff has been completed before SIS access is granted.
Developing and maintaining SIS documentation and training materials.
Providing level 1 support to users of district student information systems including first-level response problem-solving and technical guidance around related software and hardware.
Tracking SIS issues and developing resolutions.
Supervision and initial completion of the 1701 data collection process and Student Achievement Data Exchange ( SADE ).
Working with the Technology Services ticket system to respond to support requests.
Producing and analyzing reports from district student information systems and other data collection systems used by the school district.
Maintaining school district web content related to SIS data collection and distributing this information to the user community as required.
Supporting school district communications procedures through the creation of social media content and web content.
Supporting clerical staff interview procedures and providing feedback to Human Resources.
Supporting Easy Connect processes as required.
Working with the District Leadership Team as needed.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent and post-secondary training in office or business administration including the use of databases or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
A minimum of 5 years experience working with student information systems as a head secretary data secretary or in a district position in the K-12 public education system.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail and ensure accuracy and reliability of data while balancing time available.
Demonstrated ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines.
Strong organizational interpersonal and communication skills.
Advanced skill level in MS Office 365 programs and related tools ability to retrieve and analyze data develop reports and identify inconsistencies.
