About the role

This role contributes to the success of the City by leading and supporting strategic land use planning projects and planning scheme amendments that shape Hobarts future growth while respecting its natural and cultural heritage values.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Undertake research and contribute to strategic land use planning reviews aligned with contemporary capital city growth trends.
  • Support project management approaches for significant city-shaping projects.
  • Prepare submissions on draft legislation statutory instruments and regional land use strategies.
  • Provide advice to the public and developers on planning scheme amendment processes.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for elected members and formulate evidence-based submissions to the Tasmanian Planning Commission.

About you

You will have:

  • A degree in Planning or a related discipline with experience in strategic land use planning and policy review.
  • Strong knowledge of planning schemes legislation and policy frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including negotiation and report writing.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.
  • A current driver licence and Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.
