Key Responsibilities
- Design develop and optimize tooling jigs fixtures and molds for manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related production issues and failures to minimize downtime.
- Oversee the maintenance repair and modification of existing tooling to ensure operational readiness.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tooling performance lifespan and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with design production and quality teams to ensure tooling meets product specifications and manufacturing requirements.
- Manage tooling procurement vendor selection and performance monitoring.
- Conduct tooling trials validations and first article inspections for new product introductions and process changes.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering or a related technical field
- 3-5 years of experience in tooling design development and maintenance within a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g. SolidWorks AutoCAD CATIA Mastercam)
- Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes such as injection molding stamping machining or casting
- Demonstrated experience in tool try-out troubleshooting and continuous improvement methodologies
- Knowledge of material science including tool steels plastics and composites
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) for tooling applications.
- Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software for design validation and optimization.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent continuous improvement experience.
- Familiarity with advanced metrology techniques and equipment (e.g. CMM laser scanning).
