Key Responsibilities

• Design fabricate and repair precision tools dies jigs and fixtures.
• Perform complex machining operations using mills lathes grinders and EDMs.
• Interpret engineering blueprints schematics and CAD models to determine specifications.
• Troubleshoot diagnose and resolve issues with existing tooling to ensure optimal performance.
• Conduct routine maintenance and preventative checks on tools and machinery.
• Operate and maintain a variety of manual and CNC machine tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Ensure all work adheres to strict quality standards and safety protocols.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent vocational training.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Tool Maker in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine tools including lathes mills grinders and EDMs.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints schematics and GD&T.
• Expertise in precision measurement using various metrology instruments (micrometers calipers gauges).
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills for tool repair modification and troubleshooting.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g. SolidWorks Mastercam)
• Experience operating or programming CNC machinery (e.g. CNC mills lathes EDMs)
• Basic welding and fabrication skills (e.g. TIG MIG)
• Knowledge of heat treatment processes for tool steels
• Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g. CMM optical comparators)
