The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design fabricate and repair a variety of precision tools dies jigs and fixtures.
• Operate conventional and CNC machine tools including lathes mills grinders and EDM machines.
• Interpret complex engineering blueprints schematics and CAD models for tool manufacturing.
• Perform precision measurements using a wide range of inspection tools to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Troubleshoot diagnose and resolve issues with tooling performance or wear.
• Select appropriate materials and apply heat treatments for tool construction.
• Conduct routine maintenance and preventative care on tooling to extend lifespan and maintain performance.

Recommended Qualifications

• Completed apprenticeship or equivalent formal training in tool and die making.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with precision machining equipment (e.g. mills lathes grinders EDM).
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints schematics and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Demonstrated expertise in using a variety of precision measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers calipers gauges CMM).
• Strong understanding of metallurgy material properties and heat treatment processes.

Bonus Qualifications

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for design and programming.
• Experience with advanced machining techniques such such as EDM Wire EDM or 5-axis milling.
• Ability to operate and/or program CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) for precision inspection.
• Basic welding or fabrication skills for tool repair and fixture building.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
