The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
- Design fabricate and repair a variety of precision tools dies jigs and fixtures.
- Operate conventional and CNC machine tools including lathes mills grinders and EDM machines.
- Interpret complex engineering blueprints schematics and CAD models for tool manufacturing.
- Perform precision measurements using a wide range of inspection tools to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Troubleshoot diagnose and resolve issues with tooling performance or wear.
- Select appropriate materials and apply heat treatments for tool construction.
- Conduct routine maintenance and preventative care on tooling to extend lifespan and maintain performance.
Recommended Qualifications
- Completed apprenticeship or equivalent formal training in tool and die making.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with precision machining equipment (e.g. mills lathes grinders EDM).
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints schematics and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Demonstrated expertise in using a variety of precision measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers calipers gauges CMM).
- Strong understanding of metallurgy material properties and heat treatment processes.
Bonus Qualifications
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for design and programming.
- Experience with advanced machining techniques such such as EDM Wire EDM or 5-axis milling.
- Ability to operate and/or program CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) for precision inspection.
- Basic welding or fabrication skills for tool repair and fixture building.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
