The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Rockford seeking Metrology Technicians who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform calibration of measurement tools gauges and equipment.
• Operate and program advanced metrology equipment (e.g. CMM optical comparators laser scanners).
• Conduct precise dimensional inspections of manufactured parts and assemblies.
• Analyze measurement data interpret engineering drawings and generate detailed inspection reports.
• Maintain accurate calibration records and documentation in accordance with quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to measurement equipment and inspection processes.
• Assist in the development and improvement of metrology procedures and best practices.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in operating various metrology equipment (e.g. CMMs optical comparators precision hand tools).
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with calibration processes measurement system analysis (MSA) and metrology software.
• Solid understanding of measurement principles uncertainty and quality standards.
• Technical degree or certificate in Metrology Quality Assurance or a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with programming or scripting for data analysis and automation (e.g. Python VBA).
• ASQ GD&T Professional certification or advanced application of GD&T principles.
• Proficiency with specialized metrology software (e.g. PolyWorks GOM Inspect Minitab for SPC).
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
