Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components assemblies and systems for manufacturing.
- Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Apply DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles to optimize designs.
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes based on performance cost and availability.
- Conduct design calculations simulations and analyses to validate product performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with manufacturing quality and supply chain teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support the prototyping testing and validation of new designs and product improvements.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Design or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks Inventor CATIA) and PDM systems.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g. machining injection molding sheet metal) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
- Demonstrated knowledge of material science and selection for industrial applications.
- Expertise in applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with advanced simulation software (e.g. FEA CFD) for design validation.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping testing or shop floor operations.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
- Demonstrated experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for specific processes (e.g. injection molding casting sheet metal).
