Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize product designs for manufacturability cost and performance.
• Create detailed engineering drawings specifications and BOMs using CAD software.
• Perform engineering calculations simulations and analyses (e.g. FEA) to validate designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing production and quality teams to ensure design feasibility and resolve issues.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
• Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts and performance requirements.
• Document design changes test results and engineering specifications.

Recommended Qualifications

• Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks Inventor Creo).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g. machining injection molding sheet metal) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
• Solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles materials science and stress analysis.
• Proficiency in applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to engineering drawings.
• Experience with prototyping testing and validation of mechanical designs.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with advanced simulation software (FEA/CFD)
• Hands-on prototyping or fabrication experience
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
• Proficiency in a programming or scripting language (e.g. Python SolidWorks API)
