Summary:
West Sussex County Council is seeking an experienced dynamic and dedicated Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join the Family Safeguarding team based in Chichester. This critical frontline role involves being at the forefront of assessing need and risk for vulnerable children and their families within the western area of the county. The QSW will be responsible for undertaking high-quality assessments leading child protection investigations developing robust care plans and actively working to achieve positive change and improved sustained outcomes for children and young people.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-quality timely and outcome-focused statutory assessments to determine the needs of children and their families ensuring that the voice of the child is central to all processes.
- As appropriate lead and manage complex child protection investigations in line with statutory guidance and internal policies and procedures.
- Develop implement and review robust care plans for children and young people ensuring that they are adequately protected and supported in line with relevant legislation and local policies.
- Ensure all work adheres to the Children Act 1989/2004 Working Together to Safeguard Children and other relevant child protection and care planning legislation.
- Prepare reports and present evidence to the courts as required in relation to complex child protection cases and care proceedings.
- Maintain continuous professional development (CPD) and ensure registration with Social Work England (SWE) remains current.
Essentials:
- Recognised Social Work Qualification (e.g. Degree in Social Work DipSW CQSW).
- Current and valid registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- Must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 3 years post-qualified experience working in direct (permanent) employment within Local Authority childrens social care in England.
- Recent front-line experience in Child Protection work is essential.
- A full UK driving license
