Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design and engineering for large-scale data center projects ensuring compliance with Canadian codes (CSA CEC) and international standards (NEC IEC).
- Develop review and stamp electrical plans and technical documents as a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
- Design power distribution systems backup power (generators UPS) grounding systems and lighting critical for 24/7 data center uptime.
- Collaborate with mechanical structural and IT teams to ensure integrated and optimized infrastructure solutions.
- Supervise installation commissioning and testing of electrical systems on-site often requiring travel to diverse global facilities.
- Implement sustainable and energy-efficient electrical design principles aligned with green data center initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with contractors vendors and local authorities to overcome challenges.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using BIM tools (Revit AutoCAD) and data center certification requirements (Uptime Institute BICSI).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Valid Professional Engineer (PE) license or Canadian equivalent () with good standing.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in electrical design for data centers commercial or industrial buildings.
- Expertise in power distribution emergency power systems grounding and lighting design.
- Proficient with BIM software (Revit preferred) and electrical design tools.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) National Electrical Code (NEC) and related standards.
- Experience with sustainable design and green building certification is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-culturally on international sites.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally (30-50% travel expected).
