Gallery Dining Service Worker I
Position Summary
To prep organize prepare and supply various food items pertaining to the salad bars cold and hot food stations and to-order service stations in one of the Residence Dining Halls; assists cooks by combining ingredients portioning and serving from prepared to order stations; maintains proper food handling and storage techniques to eliminate waste and spoilage; will work within a diverse work force; works directly with customers. This position is located in The Gallery.
All positions in RHS are designated as critical the event of a university closure modification or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Minimum Requirements
- Casual knowledge of food ingredients and correct preparation and serving techniques is necessary.
- One-year satisfactory experience as a worker in a food related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable.
- Willingness to work a flexible shift is necessary.
- Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations is necessary.
- Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds is required.
Desired Qualifications
Customer oriented and ability to anticipate needed changes in service and customer demands; skilled in taking initiative and being highly flexible.
