Reporting to the Warehouse Operations Manager the Warehouse Driver is responsible for safely driving and operating trailer trucks to transport Farm Boy goods and materials over inner-city and inter-city routes in a timely manner. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees customers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensures delivery and pick up of product from the warehouse between Farm Boy stores and vendors.
- Maintains full responsibility for the safe loading and unloading goods from trucks between suppliers the warehouse and stores.
- Ensure the safety and security of cargo at all times.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of the trucks including all vehicle systems and equipment such as tires lights brakes and cold storage.
- Record cargo information distance traveled fuel consumption and other related information in the log book.
- Maintain valid licenses and driving record.
- Required to assist in warehouse duties as needed.
- May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications :
- Typically requires completion of post-secondary diploma plus a minimum of 2 years of experience driving 5/10 tonne truck.
- Familiar with Ottawa and surrounding area and the ability to effectively plan route delivery.
- Knowledge of loading unloading and weight restrictions are essential.
- Ability to exercise patience during the driving and delivery process.
- Valid Drivers Licenses DZ (Class 1 or A) Air Brake (Z) along with a clean driving record check.
- Excellent time management and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to climb ladder and use general maintenance tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and possession of proper safety footwear.
- Flexible as to hours and days of work with the ability to travel.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid would be an asset.
Work & Sensory Environment:
- Possible exposure to dangerous or unpleasant environmental elements such as dirt or dust extreme temperatures and adverse weather conditions for driving and/or for outdoor work.
- Will be required to lift carry and/or handle heavy objects.
- Capable of climbing reaching lifting twisting turning bending for prolonged periods up to 8 hours.
- Capable of lifting average weights of 45 lbs. up to a maximum of 80 lbs.
- Capable of moving 120 pieces per hour 5 days per week.
- Capable of working in cool damp conditions for long periods of time.
