About the role:
Reporting to the Director FRX Project the Manager Regulatory Approvals will lead a high-performing team through the coordinated provincial and federal assessment process under the B.C. Environmental Assessment Act and Canadian Impact Assessment Act while supporting strong relationships with Participating Indigenous Nations and key stakeholders.
The Fording River Extension (FRX) Project is a proposed extension of EVRs existing Fording River Operations (FRO) located in the East Kootenay region in southeastern British Columbia. The FRX Project is anticipated to extend the lifespan of FRO by approximately 35 years. The Project is an opportunity for EVR to continue building on our commitment to responsible resource development.

In this role you will:

    • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
    • Oversee the coordinated provincial and federal assessment process
    • Lead the development and submission of the Impact Statement/Assessment (IS/A) and all required permits and authorizations
    • Ensure regulatory compliance throughout project design and execution
    • Build and maintain respectful long-term relationships with Participating Indigenous Nations.
    • Support the negotiation and implementation of project-specific agreements recognizing Indigenous rights and interests
    • Design and execute engagement strategies aligned with regulatory milestones
    • Provide technical guidance to minimize and mitigate environmental impacts
    • Integrate sustainability principles and rightsholder/stakeholder knowledge and principles into project design and permitting
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to align regulatory strategy with project value drivers and other initiatives across the organization
    • Develop and manage long-term and annual budgets.
    • Communicate progress and risks to senior leadership and external regulators

Requirements:

    • Degree in Biology Aquatic Sciences Water Resources Engineering Environmental Science or a related field
    • 10 years of progressive experience in regulatory approvals permitting and environmental assessments
    • Proven leadership in managing complex environmental assessments ideally in the Canadian mining sector
    • Deep knowledge of Canadian mining regulations BC Environmental Assessment Act and Federal Impact Assessment Act
    • Demonstrated success working with Indigenous Nations and communities of interest; aligning engagement with provincial and federal permitting processes
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into operational outcomes.
    • Experience in cross-functional program development delivery and evaluation
    • Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
$150000 - $185000 a year
