The Head of Procurement is responsible for leading the procurement strategy and operations. The role is accountable for the building and optimizing of the Procurement function implementing best in class end-to-end vendor management processes and identifying risks resulting from those activities. This role is tasked with ensuring an optimal balance between enforcing a comprehensive risk governance framework to meet risk management requirements to efficiently and innovatively source and procure to achieve business objectives. This role also oversees Accounts Payable.

  • This role works closely with finance and senior level decision makers.
  • This role will manage a global sourcing and procurement team located in the US and abroad.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute a Procurement strategy and vision that delivers on established financial targets ensuring monetization of sourcing productivity.
  • Coordinate with all business segments globally to obtain the best outcomes across the organization taking into consideration their long-range procurement needs.
  • Articulate and execute a Procurement roadmap that builds the capabilities needed for long-term growth and sustainability including the launch of a comprehensive preferred vendor program and an overall reduction in the number of vendors.
  • Responsible for implementing best in class end-to-end source to pay process improvements working across all key constituents.
  • Recruit staff and develop a high-performing and motivated strategic procurement team responsible for interfacing with business and supplier partners.
  • Design a Procurement organization that has the structure process technology talent metrics and reporting needed to deliver the plan and build for the future.
  • Identify and implement a Procurement technology stack that properly supports the companys goals including implementation of automation and artificial intelligence (AI) where appropriate.
  • Ensure that the organizations procurement of goods and services aligns with the companys environmental and social responsibility goals.
  • Ensure stakeholder alignment and coordination via clearly articulated governance processes including definition of roles and responsibilities decision rights and communication and coordination mechanisms.
  • Establish balanced scorecard metrics (cost quality service etc.) that drive accountability for Total Operating Cost.
  • Oversight of efficient Accounts Payable operations.
  • Ensure our suppliers are aligned with our approach and held accountable for their performance.
  • Review opportunities across multiple business segments to synergize and consolidate buys.
  • Identify prioritize and execute continuous improvement opportunities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in Business Management Supply Chain Risk Management Operations or related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in Sourcing or Procurement with a proven track record of leading comparable operations and programs (e.g. global purchasing operations cost reduction programs etc.) is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of people leadership experience in building managing and/or developing high-performing teams is required including the ability to manage teams that are spread across the globe.
  • First-hand experience using Coupa or similar P2P systems to manage thousands of purchase orders (PO) requests.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA in an appropriately related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a global publicly traded organization is preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership skills that are demonstrated by achieving desired results through others while building effective internal customer relationships.
  • Proven strategic and critical thinking skills as well as an ability to execute.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to coach and develop others to do the same.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship management and presentation communication skills.
  • Comprehensive business process and systems knowledge and the ability to identify and implement best practices.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail clarity accuracy and conciseness.
  • Skills in all Procurement process disciplines including spend category negotiation supplier selection supplier value management benefits capture requisition to payment and acquisition integration.
  • Working knowledge in multiple spend categories.
  • Expert understanding in e-procurement processes and systems.
  • Expert level financial planning budgeting and forecasting skills.
  • Experience with modern ERP software systems and associated procurement systems.
  • Transformative change management skills and self-awareness to take varying approaches with a dynamic set of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with colleagues of many cultures and languages.
  • Ability to travel.

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $137000 to $270000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individuals geographic location as well as experience level skill set training licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
